Carroll Aquatic Center Closed For Season After Lifeguard Tests Positive For COVID-19

The City of Carroll has announced the Carroll Aquatic Center will be closing for the remainder of the season after a lifeguard tested positive for COVID-19. Following the positive test, multiple other employees have been advised by Carroll County Public Health to quarantine for at least 14 days due to their close contact with the positive individual. As a result, the city no longer has sufficient staff to keep the Aquatic Center open for the season. Officials are currently evaluating if the Rec Center pool will have enough staff to continue normal operations. The city was also notified that a critical-service employee has tested positive for the coronavirus. In order to maintain these critical service areas, the City of Carroll has implemented multiple mitigation measures, including rotating shifts, enhanced cleaning practices and much more. Carroll residents are reminded face coverings are required when visiting City Hall, the Carroll Police Department Lobby and Carroll Public Library. Many city services are also available online, through telephone or by utilizing curbside services. For more information, contact Carroll City Hall directly at 712-792-1000. As of 11 a.m. Thursday, Carroll County stands at 251 total COVID-19 cases, 177 of which are recovered and two deaths. This is down several from Wednesday after case investigations determined the positive individuals did not reside in Carroll County.
