Do you know a nurse who goes above and beyond their already extraordinary efforts in caring for patients at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital (SMCH) or the McRary Rost clinics? If you do, they want to know about it. Every year, these organizations nominate some of their outstanding nurses for recognition from the DAISY Foundation. This was established in 1999 by the family of 33-year-old J. Patrick Barnes, who died of complications from Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpera (ITP). The care Patrick and his family received from the nurses inspired this means of thanking them for the profound differences they make in the lives of others. Stewart Memorial will select and present the DAISY Award to a nurse nominated by their peers, the physicians, the patients, their families and other staff. Nomination forms are available at the Stewart Memorial Community Hospital business office, at outpatient registration, at all McRary Rost Clinics and on the website at www.stewartmemorial.org. Nominations are to be submitted to Ann Lengeling, Chief Nursing Officer, or Jodi Henkenius, Administrative Assistant by Sept. 15. A return mailing address is included below.
