Trial For Carroll Man Charged With Drug Trafficking Moved To Sept. 15

The jury trial for a Carroll man accused of drug trafficking has been rescheduled to now begin on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Carroll County District Court records show 49-year-old Chad Michael Hess faces one count of delivery of methamphetamine, a class C felony with a habitual offender enhancement. Hess was arrested on Aug. 22, 2019 for allegedly selling 1.5 grams of methamphetamine during a controlled buy in Coon Rapids on May 16 last year. He pled not guilty in January with his trial originally slated to begin April 28. However, the proceedings were delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now that the courts are back to hearing cases, his trial has been tentatively rescheduled for Sept. 15. Several other cases are also scheduled to begin that day, and they may be reassigned to the next available date if required. If found guilty, Hess faces up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
