Two Property-Damage Accidents In Carroll On Tuesday Morning

The Carroll Police Department responded to two accidents on Tuesday with no injuries reported from either incident. The first occurred at approximately 9:03 a.m. at the intersection of Heires Avenue and U.S. Highway 71. Nineteen-year-old Bethany Goodwin of Carroll was northbound on 71 in a 2005 Mercury Mariner and stopped for oncoming traffic to turn left onto Heires Avenue. Sixteen-year-old Nathan Overmohle, also of Carroll, was northbound as well, behind Goodwin in a 2010 Lincoln MKX. He told authorities he did not see the Goodwin vehicle in time to stop and rear-ended the Mercury. The Overmohle vehicle was disabled and he was cited for failure to maintain control. The second property-damage accident occurred at approximately 10:38 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Main Street. Thirty-two-year-old Emily Tigges of Carroll was northbound on Main Street in a 2009 Dodge Journey. Twenty-two-year-old Jacob Webster of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. was southbound on Main in a 1995 Suzuki Sidekick and turning east onto Highway 30. Webster did not yield to Tigges and was struck on the passenger side. There was functional damage to both vehicles and Webster was cited for failure to yield the right of way on a left turn.
