A Texas man was taken into custody over the weekend following a disturbance at a Storm Lake convenience store where he allegedly assaulted a police officer. According to the Storm Lake Police Department, they were dispatched to Casey’s General Store in the 800 block of Flindt Drive at approximately 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 18. Upon arrival, authorities located 41-year-old Daniel Stephen Joy of Waco, Texas. Law enforcement says Joy was acting belligerently towards staff and customers and refused to leave when asked to do so. As he was being taken into custody, Joy allegedly threatened to kill an officer and resisted arrest, which injured an officer. He was booked into the Buena Vista County jail for first-degree harassment and assault on a peace officer, aggravated misdemeanors, and trespassing, disorderly conduct and interference with official acts, simple misdemeanors. He remains in custody on a $4,900 bond.
