City hall in Sac City is returning to by-appointment services for at least a month after an employee’s confirmed exposure to COVID-19. According to City Administrator, Jamie Lawrence, he was contacted by Sac County Public Health last week about his confirmed exposure and began self-quarantine as soon as he was notified. He says his test results returned negative for the coronavirus. However, he still plans to work from home until Monday, July 27 to error on the side of caution. Following this news, Lawrence says the city council voted to partially close city offices for a second time.
Officials hope to provide services in a manner that is as normal as possible, but they do ask for patience from residents while access to city hall is limited. Lawrence says staff and patrons will be asked to take extra precautions when inside the building.
As of Thursday afternoon, Sac County has recorded 69 positive cases since the start of the pandemic. Of those cases, 60 are listed as recovered. For more detailed statistics on a county-by-county or statewide basis, visit coronavirus.iowa.gov.
