Manning Man Charged For Throwing Keys At Child Now Faces Second Felony Charge

A Manning man arrested last month for allegedly hurling his keys at a child’s face now faces another felony charge. According to Carroll County District Court records, prosecutors have filed trial information on two counts of child endangerment, class C felonies, against 55-year-old Thomas Patrick McManigal. The initial charge stemmed from an investigation by the Manning Police Department. Authorities say that near the end of May 2019 McManigal threw his keys with such force that it caused lacerations to the child’s top and bottom lips and chipped a tooth, causing the tooth to die. Addition investigation revealed another incident causing injury occurred between Dec. 15, 2019 and Jan. 5 of this year, resulting in the second felony charge. His arraignment hearing has been scheduled for Monday, July 13. A class C felony in Iowa carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
