The Wildcats didn’t play poorly on defense as West Harrison hit the ball very well. Glidden Ralston only had a couple of errors but only 1 hit. The Hawkeyes put together 11 hits and scored 7 earned runs. The game lasted just 54 minutes.

Jared Free had the lone hit for Glidden Ralston.

The Hawkeyes scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th and held the Wildcats in the top of the 5th to end it.

The Wildcats will host Coon Rapids Bayard on Friday on 93.7 KKRL.

It what could be a playoff preview the Kuemper Knights fell at home to Underwood in a game that went back and forth. The two teams are in the same district and could meet up in the 2nd round of the playoffs at Underwood.

The Knights started quickly scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st as they built a 5-2 lead heading into the 5th inning. Underwood would respond with a 3-run 5th before taking their first lead since going into the bottom of the 1st when they scored 2 more in the top of the 6th. Kuemper answered with 2 of their own to tie it. The 7th inning got very interesting as Kuemper games do. The Eagles went up by 4 heading into the bottom half and Kuemper answered with 3 runs. Trevor Rial walked and would score, Luke Hicks singled and scored, Kyle Berg reached on an error and scored. Austin Tigges picked up an RBI and Will Schenkelberg has a 2 RBI single to cut it to a 1 run game.  The Knights had runners on 2nd and 3rd with two outs but were unable to push the tying run across the board.

Kuemper finished with 10 hits and out hit the Eagles by a run. Schenkelberg had a pair of hits and drove in 4 runs. Luke Hicks, Truman Haukap each added a pair of hits. Haukap and Kyle Berg scored twice.  Kuemper threw four pitchers who gave up a combined 9 hits and 10 runs with 9 of those being earned. They struck out 3 and walked 8.

The Tigers snapped an 11 game losing streak to Boone and improved to 4-7 overall and 2-3 in the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers offense got rolling early with a 4-run 1st. Colby Christensen and Treyton Goins had 2-run singles to jump start the offense. Ryan Johnston came up big in the 3rd with an RBI double. Carroll led 6-2 heading into the 5th when Boone scored a pair of runs to make it close. Carroll responded with a run in the 6th and 7th as Luke Woosley scored on an error.

The Carroll defense was solid most of the game but did have a pair of errors which allowed 2 unearned runs. Alex Loew improved to 2-1 on the season. He worked 6 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 earned runs. Slade Sibenaller picked up the save with a scoreless 7th.

Goins and Johnston led the offense with a pair of hits and a double apiece. Goins had 2 RBI and Johnston had an RBI, Jack Troutman also went 2-3. Colby Christensen added a pair of RBI and Sibenaller scored twice. Nick Haberl didn’t have a hit but did have 2 sac bunts.

Coon Rapids Bayard was steady on Wednesday picking up their second straight non-conference win in a row as they get ready to step out of conference again on Thursday when they host SE Valley. The Crusaders scored a run in each of the first three innings and the 5th before pushing 2 runs across the plate in the 6th. Ogden tried to rally late with a run in the 6th and 2 more in the 7th. The Crusader defense which had been error free the first 5 innings had 4 errors in the last two innings allowing a couple unearned runs to score.

An Aaron McAlister double in the 1st inning helped the Crusaders get on the board early. Tanner Oswald picked up an RBI in the 2nd with a base hit driving in their 2nd run of the game. Quentin Culbertson had an RBI single in the 3rd and Preston McAlister drove in the run in the 5th.

Peyton Clipperton and Tanner Oswald had two hits apiece as the Crusaders racked up 10 hits. Aaron McAlister had the only extra base hit with a double, he added a RBI as did Quentin Culbertson, Preston McAlister and Oswald.  Peyton Clipperton scored 2 of the teams 6 runs.  Kade Schlepp was tough on the hill again going all 7 innings, giving up just 7 hits and 3 runs (1 earned) with 3 strikeouts.

A bad 3rd inning dug the Raiders into a hole they couldn’t quite crawl out of as they fell to 4-4. The Indians improved to 11-1, scored 6 times in the 3rd and added 2 more in the 4th to lead 9-2. The Raiders put two runs on the board in the 5th and 7th as they tried rally.

Derek Aschinger paced the offense with 3 hits and run scored. Griffin O’Neill added a pair of hits and 2 RBI. Caleb Villhauer led the team with 3 runs scored. Sterling Rodman took the loss going 2 1/3 inning giving up 6 hits and 6 runs.

The Raiders travel to South Central Calhoun on KIKD 106.7 on Friday.
