A Carroll native is being memorialized with a limited edition set of four different bobbleheads. On Friday morning, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum revealed the designs featuring Toronto Raptors head coach, Nick Nurse. In celebration of the one-year anniversary of the Raptors’ first NBA championship on June 13, 2019, the bobbleheads each capture a memorable moment of that milestone for the popular coach. The first features Nurse celebrating with a Canadian flag in one hand and a microphone in the other. In the rest, he is captured giving a fist pump, holding a basketball in a suit with a baseball hat that says “2019 Champions” and standing in the back of a pickup truck in the victory parade. Each limited edition bobblehead is numbered up to 2,019 and are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s online store, a link to which is included below. They are priced at $30 each plus shipping or all four for $100 and are expected to ship in August. Nurse led the Kuemper Knights to a state championship in 1985 and went on to play basketball at the University of Northern Iowa, where he still ranks as the school’s all-time three-point percentage leader. After coaching in Iowa and South Dakota, Nurse spent 11 seasons coaching in Europe and the NBA D-League. Nurse joined the Raptors’ coaching staff in 2013 and became head coach in 2018. CEO and co-founder of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, Phil Sklar, says Nurse is beloved by not only those from his home town and home state, but also by Canadians for bringing the country their first NBA championship. “Nick Nurse’s head coaching debut with the Raptors will never be topped,” Sklar says.
