Two adults and a toddler were transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital with suspected minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident east of Carroll Friday afternoon. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on U.S. Highway 30 at Olympic Avenue at approximately 2:48 p.m. Fifty-five-year-old Douglas Charles Ausman of Carroll was southbound on Olympic in a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500, nearing the intersection with Highway 30. Sixty-six-year-old Dennis Harry Langbehn of Rapid City, S.D. was westbound on 30 in a 2004 Ford Explorer. Ausman told authorities he looked, but did not see the approaching vehicle and entered the intersection. Langbehn was unable to stop in time and struck the Ram, severely damaging both vehicles. Langbehn and passengers, 65-year-old Valarie Kay Langbehn and a two-year-old female were all transported for treatment by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services. There was an estimated $3,000 in damage to the Explorer and $8,000 in damage to the Ram. Ausman was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and failure to yield the right of way.
