Cecelia Boes of Carroll

Cecilia (Ceal) Rose Boes died Sunday, May 24, 2020, at her residence at St. Anthony Nursing home in Carroll, Iowa. She was 98 years old.
Private Family Services will be held at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll on Wednesday, May 27, 2020. Casket Bearers will be Cecilia’s family. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be mailed to Cecilia Boes Family, c/o Sharp Funeral Home, 226 W. 8 th St., Carroll, IA 51401.  Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Ceal’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com.
Cecilia was born on May 11, 1922, to Henry J. and Margaret C. (Wittrock) Langel, on the family farm outside of Manning, IA.  She graduated from St Angela’s Academy and received her RN from St Angela’s School of Nursing (Class of 1945). She later attended Marquette University (Milwaukee) for additional training.
On November 8, 1949 at St Joseph Catholic Church (Carroll), she married Romain B. Boes.  They made their home together In Carroll for 57 years and were blessed with three children.  Ceal was employed for 41 years as a registered nurse at St. Anthony’s Regional Hospital in the Obstetrics Department. After retirement, she was often delighted to be stopped by a mother telling her, ”You were there when I had my baby!” It seemed she remembered every one of these births and had an incredible memory well into her 90’s.  Cecilia was a lifelong member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and St. Anthony Alumnae Association. She was an avid reader and letter writer. She treasured every piece of correspondence, card or note she received.Her long career and neighborhood roots were also her sources for lasting friendships.
Cecilia is survived by her son Robert (Vickie) Boes, of Carroll, Iowa, and daughters, Margaret (Mark) Melia, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Mary (Tim Dunbar) of Iowa City, Iowa, one grandson, Holden (Nikki Creger), Melia, and two great-granddaughters, Reagan and Monroe Melia, all of Omaha, Nebraska.  Her sister, Marcella (Sally) Kruse of Clinton, MO.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Romain, her Brother Clarence Langel, Her sister Estella (Stella) Schmitz.
