Mary Waters, 83, died Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with burial in the Lanesboro Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday at Lampe Funeral Home.
Mary Myrtle Waters was born on June 26, 1936 in Farnhamville, Iowa to George and Bertha (Green) Millis. Throughout the years Mary worked at various cafes including the Wagon Wheel, Lake City Café, and Clark’s in Rockwell City. She also worked at Bowies and Duckwalls in Lake City and enjoyed serving men’s meals and helping with funeral lunches. Mary was active on a bowling league in Lake City and especially loved spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by her children James “Spudsy” Waters, Jr. of Fort Dodge, Debra Waters of Monticello, MN, Tammy (Danny) Green, Larry Waters, and Tim “Buckwheat” Waters all of Lake City; 11 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; brother Fred Millis of Lake City and sister Flossie Hoffmann of Pomeroy. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James “Jesse” Waters, Sr., brother Robert Millis and sister Pearl McCormick.
