Guthrie County Public Health announced today (Friday) they had confirmed a COVID-19 outbreak at a long-term care facility in Panora. According to the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), and outbreak is when three or more cases are identified among residents, and local health officials say seven cases, including staff and residents, have been confirmed at Lakeside Village. Residents and their families have been notified of the outbreak, and the facility is actively working to protect the health of residents and secure additional testing. Guthrie County Public Health Director, Jotham Arber, says, “We know our older population is at the highest risk for serious COVID-19 illness, so we are monitoring the situation carefully and taking the highest precautions to prevent virus spread.” As of May 1, Guthrie County has recorded 22 COVID-19 cases, including the seven identified at Lakeside Village.
