Sac County Sheriff’s Office Seizes Handgun And Drug Paraphernalia After Vigilant Resident Calls In Suspicious Vehicle

Charges are pending following an investigation by the Sac County Sheriff’s Office into a report of a suspicious vehicle in Early earlier this week. At approximately 12 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street and located an occupied Chrysler 200 without license plates. Two men inside the car, whose names have not been released, attempted to walk away from law enforcement upon their arrival and were detained. Authorities say neither man could identify the vehicle’s owner and claimed they were waiting for them to return with the license plates. Sac County’s K-9 unit, Petey, was called in to assist and alerted to the odor of narcotics. Law enforcement located drug paraphernalia consistent with methamphetamine and marijuana use and an unloaded .22 caliber handgun inside the vehicle during their search. The items were seized and sent to the Division of Criminal Investigations (DCI) laboratory for testing. The subjects were identified prior to their release, and charges are pending the return of lab results. Sheriff, Ken McClure, describes the incident as an excellent example of “see something, say something,” resulting in the seizure of a handgun and drug paraphernalia.
