Iowa State Patrol Trooper One Of Witnesses To Carroll Accident On Monday

Only minor injuries were reported, but two vehicles were disabled in a Carroll accident Monday. The Carroll Police Department responded to the scene at the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Market Street at approximately 2:29 p.m. The initial investigation and information gathered from two witnesses, including an Iowa State Patrol Trooper, revealed that 79-year-old Irene Kathryne Schroeder of Carroll was westbound on Highway 30 in a 2017 Ford Escape. At the same time, a 2016 Ford Explorer, driven by 47-year-old Julie Ann Peters of Glidden was negotiating a left turn onto 30 from Market Street on a green light. Schroeder failed to slow at the intersection and moved through a red light, striking the front driver’s side of the Peters SUV. Schroeder was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services and Peters traveled to the hospital by private vehicle for treatment of suspected minor injuries. There was more than $8,000 in damages to each vehicle. Schroeder was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.
