Greene County Authorities Report Three Accidents; One Closes Part Of J Avenue For Repairs

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to three traffic incidents over the past couple of days. The first report came in at approximately 2:50 p.m. Tuesday of a single-vehicle rollover accident on 160th Street near P Avenue, southeast of Churdan. Eighteen-year-old Keaton Bass of Fort Dodge lost control of the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu he was driving. He entered the north ditch on 160th Street and the vehicle rolled onto its top. The Malibu was totaled but the driver and occupants were uninjured. Another single-vehicle accident occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m. Wednesday on Y Avenue near 235th Street. Twenty-year-old Christian Andres of Perry was turning from 235th onto Y Avenue when he lost control of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer and entered the ditch. There was an estimated $2,500 in damage to the SUV and Andres was cited for failure to maintain control and for not having insurance. The third call was at 7:32 a.m. this (Thursday) morning when Sheriff, Jack Williams, responded to a reported accident on the railroad tracks on J Avenue. An unidentified vehicle had torn a large part of the crossing out before leaving the scene. The southbound lane of J Avenue is closed until the tracks can be repaired.
