Iowans Respond To Test Iowa Challenge As COVID-19 Cases Continue To Rise

According to the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state has grown to 3,748 with the 107 new positive tests as of Wednesday morning. Seven additional coronavirus-related deaths were also reported during the daily press conference, bringing the total to 90 deaths to date. State health officials also identified the 11th outbreak at a long-term care facility in Poweshiek County. In response to growing concerns for these healthcare settings, the IDPH has deployed a strike-team to Tama County, one of the areas hardest hit so far by the pandemic. Gov. Kim Reynolds congratulated Iowans on their overwhelming reaction to the introduction of Test Iowa, a large-scale screening initiative launched yesterday (Tuesday). More than 80,000 surveys were completed in only 24 hours with 250 tests being scheduled as a result. Reynolds continues to encourage every Iowan to participate. The initial screening are available online at www.testiowa.com and can be completed as needed if symptoms occur later. The risk assessment for Regional Medical Coordination Center (RMCC) 1, which includes Carroll, Greene and Guthrie Counties, is at a nine on the 10-point scale. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Audubon, Carroll and Greene Counties have each recorded one case. Guthrie County stands at four, Crawford at six and Shelby County at nine.
