This Carroll Woman Is Ready To Give The Shirt Off Her Back (Or One Just Like It) To Help Local Businesses

A Carroll resident says she was trying to find ways to help local businesses and has come upon an idea that took off, even before being launched. Carly Pedelty works full-time at Hy-Vee, has a busy family life and is very active in the community, but she has now taken on a fundraiser and is making t-shirts to sell with the proceeds being funneled right back to Carroll businesses.

Pedelty says she wanted the design to reflect the fact that we are all riding this out together and helping each other through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The shirts range in price from $12 to $16. Twelve dollars for small through x-large sizes, $14 for 2xl and $16 for 3xl. Pedelty has worked with the Carroll Chamber of Commerce on a way to disburse the proceeds.

Pedelty posted the idea to her Facebook page last weekend and says she immediately got a great response.

She has enlisted her entire immediate family, children and step-children, to help in production and says several other co-workers and community members have offered to help with the “weed” process, which is pulling the negative vinyl off the shirts before they can be delivered. This, she says, is all being done with an eye to safety first and all physical distancing guidelines are being followed. Starting this Friday, Pedelty will have the shirts for sale at Hy-Vee and staff members will be “modeling” them on Fridays through Sundays from this weekend until the end of May. Shirts can be purchased there, or those interested can put in a request on her Facebook page, a link to which is included below. Pedelty says there is no time limit on this fundraiser. She will keep making them as long as people still want them.
