A Carroll woman accused of felony theft in District Court for Carroll County has pled guilty to the charge levied against her. According to court records, the written plea for one count of second-degree theft, a class D felony, from 44-year-old Christine Ann Ellis was filed Thursday, April 16. The charge stems from an investigation by the Carroll Police Department into multiple incidents between May 15 and July 30 of 2019. That investigation found Ellis had written numerous bad checks totaling more than $2,600 to various businesses throughout Carroll County. Her sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, July 11. A class D felony carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
