A New Well And Projects Aimed At Increasing Water Pressure Are On The Radar For Carroll

The City of Carroll recently held two public hearings on upcoming water projects. Director of Public Works, Randy Krauel, described the plans, specifications, form of contract and estimated costs from JEO Consulting Group, Inc. on a water supply well that needs to be replaced.

Krauel said they had done some work to rehabilitate this particular well in the past.

The estimated construction cost is just over $506,500. This added to design fees brings the total project cost up to more than $632,300. Krauel said they are proposing the funding be drawn from the Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 and 2021 water utility funds. He also outlined the construction timeline.

Substantial completion is expected to take 180 days. The second public meeting was again to review for adoption the plans, specifications, form of contract and estimated costs for water distribution main replacements in several locations throughout Carroll, a listing of which can be found below. This work is being conducted in an effort to increase pressure in some parts of the system. They will be replacing select two inch water lines and do some looping of lines to stabilize pressure. Krauel outlined those costs as detailed by JEO Consulting Group with construction at more than $739,400 and a total estimate at just over $875,900. Funding is again proposed from the FY 2020 and 2021 water utility funds. This has the same bidding and award timeline of April 21 and April 27 respectively with a 180-day substantial completion. The council approved the adoption of both projects.
