MRHC To Give Away Two Wellness Screenings In Honor Of American Heart Month

February is American Heart Month and Manning Regional Healthcare Center (MRHC) is ready to celebrate with the giveaway of two wellness screenings. To be entered for the drawings on Thursday, Feb. 13 and Friday, Feb. 28, you need only like the MRHC Facebook page or stop by the hospital admissions desk to register. Specialty Clinic Cardiologist, Dr. Kyle Ulveling, also shares some tips to recognize symptoms of heart attack and stroke as well as ways to be proactive for heart health. He says any discomfort, tightness or pain in the chest, arm or below the breastbone as well as discomfort in the back, jaw, throat or arm could signal a heart attack. Some may have a choking feeling, suffer from indigestion or feel overly full and others may exhibit symptoms of sweating, vomiting or dizziness. Severe weakness, anxiety, fatigue or shortness of breath and a fast or uneven heartbeat could be signals of an issue. To identify a stroke, Dr. Ulveling suggests remembering the acronym FAST: face drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty, time to call 911. To maintain a healthy heart, he says you need to eat healthy, stay physically active, abstain from tobacco, find ways to manage stress and schedule wellness exams with your primary provider. For more information, contact MRHC at 712-655-8112.
