The Lake View City Council has approved a bid from a Harlan contractor to build a 1,600 square-foot addition to the community’s library. City officials held a public hearing on the project Monday evening and did not receive any comments for or against the project. With the council’s approval of the $309,000 bid from Leinen Construction, Administrator, Scott Peterson, says they have a more concrete idea of the project’s total costs.
Now that the city council has approved a bid, Peterson says they have only a few minor details to clear up before construction can begin at the library.
The addition is essentially a large meeting space that will be situated on the east side of the existing building. Peterson says the library will be able to expand their programming in a variety of ways once the project is completed.
The anticipated completion date is Dec. 1 of this year, and weather conditions during the construction season will be the main factor in determining when the addition will be ready for use by library patrons.
