The Greene County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Jefferson Police Department in arresting a Jefferson man who is suspected of passing counterfeit $100 bills. Twenty-six-year-old Dakota Neil Bishop was taken into custody at 7:37 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of North Vine Street on a warrant charging him with forgery, a class D felony. On Friday, Jan. 24, the Jefferson Police Department received a report from a resident who told officers Bishop had paid back a loan, but she suspected the 10 $100 bills he gave her were not legitimate. Following the initial investigation, a search warrant was executed later that day on Vine Street, where more counterfeit money was recovered.
