A Carroll man accused of sex acts with a minor has entered not guilty pleas to two additional felony charges. According to Carroll County District Court records, 35-year-old Timothy Shane McFarland filed his written pleas Jan. 29 to one count of third-degree sexual abuse and one count of lascivious acts with a child, both class C felonies. An affidavit from the Carroll Police Department alleges McFarland engaged in sexual activity with a 15-year-old victim on July 1, 2019. A second affidavit alleges he caused a separate juvenile victim to fondle or touch his genitals that same day. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Monday, March 9 with the jury trial set to begin Tuesday, March 24. McFarland pled not guilty on Jan. 8 to two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, class B felonies, stemming from an investigation by the Carroll Police Department, which claims he engaged in sex acts with a minor from Aug. 1, 2012 to Nov. 1, 2015. Authorities say the victim was between seven and 11 years old when the incidents occurred. These charges are also scheduled for trial on March 24.
