Twenty-four teams from Carroll’s two high schools will compete at the Iowa High School Speech Association (IHSSA) state contest after earning top scores at districts last weekend. To advance, teams must earn a I, or “excellent” rating from judges. Carroll High School had 21 entries perform in Fort Dodge on Saturday, Jan 25. Of those, 19 moved on in a wide range of categories, including: one-act play, readers theater, radio broadcasting, short film, group improvisation, ensemble acting and group mime. Teams from Kuemper Catholic High School also competed in Fort Dodge and advanced five groups in one-act play, radio news, ensemble acting, readers theater and group improvisation These groups will perform at the state contest held in LeMars on Saturday, Feb. 8.
