Audubon County Economic Development Corporation (ACED) is excited to announce a unique business will be moving into the former Shopko building on Market Street next month. ACED Administrator, Laurie Gilbert, says Ryan Wager, owner of the It’s Five Dollars discount store in Council Bluffs, is planning to open a branch in Audubon. According to her, they reached out to Wager to gauge his interest in the vacant retail location and found it to be to his liking.
It’s Five Dollars has a unique business model. Rather than carry a consistent stock of items on a regular basis, Gilbert says the store brings in an entirely new inventory every week.
Gilbert adds it will carry everything from clothes and shoes to hardware and electronics. In addition to the great deals, she expects It’s Five Dollars will draw shoppers to Audubon from miles around.
The store is projected to create approximately 20 jobs and has the potential for even more with Wager’s plans to open a more traditional retail location next door in the near future. It’s Five Dollars is expected to begin doing business in early February.
