Power was knocked out in Ralston for quite some time Tuesday afternoon as a result of a single-vehicle accident on the east side of town. The Greene and Carroll County Sheriff’s Offices, the Ralston Fire Department and the Greene County Roads Department all responded at approximately 4:07 p.m. to A Avenue and 215th Street. Thirty-seven-year-old Joshua Hill of Cherokee was driving a tractor and pulling a manure spreader south on A Avenue. He traveled over the railroad tracks at a high rate of speed, losing control and entering the ditch, where he struck a power pole, pulling the lines down. There was an estimated $10,000 in damage to the tractor and tank and Hill was cited for failure to maintain control.
