DNR Investigates Manure Spill In Cherokee County

The Iowa Department of Natural Resource (DNR) is investigating a manure discharge in Cherokee County. Multiple complaints were reported last Friday and staff confirmed manure runoff from the Tentinger Feedlot in northern Cherokee County. The runoff is reaching a tributary of Bear Creek, about four miles northeast of Cleghorn. DNR staff are working with the owner to stop the discharge. The investigation is ongoing, but the DNR believes runoff from land-applied manure is responsible. No fish were located in the stream, either dead or alive. The DNR will also be considering appropriate enforcement action.
