Lake City officials have announced they will begin flushing fire hydrants throughout the community next week. City crews are tentatively scheduled to begin flushing procedures on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The effort could last until Wednesday, Nov. 20 and will be largely dependent on weather conditions. Hydrants are flushed twice per year to dislodge any rust buildup in the water mains. This may cause a slight discoloration in your water. While it does not pose any health risks, residents are encouraged to avoid doing laundry if this occurs. Questions or concerns about the work can be directed to city hall at 712-464-3111.
