New Glidden City Administrator, Brooke Peterson, Settling Into Position In City Government

A Glidden-native has returned home to take over as the city’s new clerk/administrator. Thirty-year-old Brooke Peterson officially started on Oct. 2 and is working closely with Suzy Danner, the outgoing clerk/admin who is retiring at the beginning of April. According to Peterson the first few weeks on the job have gone by quickly with plenty of meetings, training sessions and new information.

Peterson grew up in Glidden and graduated from Glidden-Ralston High School, so she is already familiar with many of the residents. Peterson moved back to town a few months ago and immediately applied when she saw the city council was looking to fill the administrator position. She holds an associate degree in business administration from Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and bachelor’s degree in the same field from Upper Iowa University. Peterson says her background has prepared her well for this new role.

Peterson says she still has a lot to learn and will be spending the next few months with Danner getting acquainted with the ins-and-outs of city management.

She thanks the city council and community for the opportunity and looks forward to being a part of Glidden’s future.

When not at City Hall, Peterson enjoys fishing, kayaking, painting and spending time with her eight-year-old daughter, Isabella.
