Mass of the Christian Burial for 67 year old Marc Leiting of Carroll will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. on Thursday where there will be a Rosary prayed at 6:30 p.m. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church on Friday morning where visitation will resume from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation. Marc, the son of Melvin and Marilyn (Mosman) Leiting was born on May 26, 1952 in Carroll, Iowa. He grew up in Carroll, graduated from Kuemper Catholic in 1970, and attended college in San Diego. Marc returned to Carroll, and was employed with the family business, Andrews Roofing.
On June 14, 1975, Marc was united in marriage to Peggy Wittry at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Breda. The couple made their home in Carroll, where they raised their three daughters: Melissa, Melanie, and Megan. Marc enjoyed golfing, reading, playing cards, bowling, and going on many cruises. Most of all Marc enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren: Madison, Sofia, and Sebastian. Marc was a member of St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll.
Left to celebrate Marc’s life is his wife Peggy Leiting of Carroll; children: Melissa (Patrick Drury) of New Jersey, Melanie (Robert Fry) of Jefferson, and Megan Braaksma of West Des Moines; three grandchildren: Madison, Sofia, and Sebastian; his siblings: Marty Leiting of Glidden, Marcia (Alex) Espinoza of Arizona, Monte (Karen) Leiting of Carroll, Matt (Kathleen) Leiting of Arizona, Marshal Leiting, Maury Leiting of Carroll, Mitch (Lenny) Leiting of Arizona, and Mike Leiting of Carroll; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ken Terlisner of Ankeny, Tom Wittry of Breda, Jim (Jodi) Wittry of Huxley, Deb (Doug) Breckenridge of Dallas, TX; and his mother-in-law: Joan Wittry of Carroll.
Marc was preceded in death by his parents; Melvin and Marilyn Leiting, his sister, Michele Terlisner, a sister-in-law Carol Leiting, a great-nephew Mason Leiting, and his father-in-law, Gene Wittry.
