Thursday Was Busy For Carroll PD–Two Accidents And An Arrest With Another High Blood Alcohol Content

Officers with the Carroll Police Department responded to two motor vehicle accidents and arrested a South Carolina man with an extremely high Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) on Thursday. The first accident occurred at the junction of U.S. Highway 30 and 71 at approximately 7:30 a.m. Fifty-five-year-old Donna Wiederin of Arcadia was southbound on Highway 71 in a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. Forty-one-year-old Adam Peterson of Chester, S.D. was eastbound on 30 in a 2018 Ford transit van when he struck the passenger side of the Wiederin vehicle. No injuries were reported. The second incident was at the intersection of Highway 30 and Grant Road at approximately 4:06 p.m. Twenty-one-year-old Katlyn Wasson of Panora was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus eastbound on 30. At the same time, 48-year-old William O’Conner of Carroll was westbound in a 2002 Ford Focus and attempting to turn left onto Grant Road. Wasson struck the O’Conner car on the passenger side, causing disabling damage to his vehicle. O’Conner was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. And at 8:31 p.m., 23-year-old Hunter Ledbetter of Roebuk, S.C. was arrested in the 1100 block of Highway 30 for public intoxication. His BAC at the time of his arrest was .295, nearly 3.75 times the legal limit.
