Greene County Authorities Assist Boone Deputy Whose Vehicle Is Hit While He Is Assisting Motorist

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office was called in to assist a Boone County deputy whose vehicle was hit while pulled to the side of the highway Wednesday. A Greene County deputy responded to the scene on Highway 169 near 200th Street, north of Ogden, at approximately 9:45 p.m. The Boone County deputy was pulled onto the shoulder as he assisted a motorist when his patrol vehicle was rear-ended by a southbound car, driven by 53-year-old Rickey Carlyle of Boxholm. Carlyle was transported by Boone County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of suspected minor injuries. Authorities report they believe Carlyle may have been distracted by a cell phone. Damage to the 2019 Dodge Charger patrol vehicle is estimated at $3,000 and damage to the 2010 Chevrolet Impala Carlyle was driving is estimated to be the same. The accident remains under investigation.
