A man wanted for failure to appear on charges in District Court for Carroll County has been arrested in Storm Lake. The Storm Lake Police Department reports they were called in reference to a suspicious individual at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Monday. They made contact with 26-year-old Jaime Hernandez of Storm Lake and determined his warrant status at that time. Hernandez was arrested and booked into the Buena Vista County jail on a $20,000 bond for failure to appear on the original charges of driving while barred and third-offense possession of a controlled substance. Hernandez was arrested on March 24 when a traffic stop was performed by the Manning Police Department near the intersection of Highways 71 and 141. He was found to be in possession of a glass smoking device with suspected methamphetamine residue, packaging materials, a scale and more than a half ounce of marijuana. Hernandez has a history of drug-related offenses, with previous convictions in Carroll and Buena Vista Counties dating back to late 2015. Since the March 24 incident, Hernandez has provided authorities with false information as to his identity as they attempted to locate him to serve warrants.
