After weeks of weather delays and scheduling issues, Lake City officials say they are edging closer to finishing the installation of new playground equipment in Goins Park. Administrator, Eric Wood, says he and the city’s public maintenance crews have been working on the site for the last week and a half.
He adds the weather has been cooperating with them far more so than in the spring and early summer. According to Wood, the bulk of the work is now behind them and they are just waiting for a representative from Boland Recreation, the equipment supplier, to come to Lake City to finish the installation.
Wood says they are confident the equipment will be ready for kids to play on within the next several weeks.
He notes many children have been hanging around the park watching them work, and Wood takes that as a sign that the kids are excited to put the new equipment to use. Wood says he is not sure if they will need volunteers from the community to help with the final stages, but if they do, he indicated he will reach out to individuals who have previously offered their assistance.
