A Minot, N.D. man has been offered and has accepted the position of IT Director for Carroll County. The Board of Supervisors conducted three interviews during their Monday meeting, making a decision shortly after. John J. Pitner, who is currently an IT analyst with Cybersearch, LTD in Minot, explained the attributes he would bring to the position and to county government.
Pitner adds he likes to be straightforward and open about his thoughts as well. He says his biggest challenges with accepting the position are making a move down to Iowa with a large family and another that goes with any career change, no matter where it is located.
Pitner and his wife have seven children, from 16 to two months old, five boys and two girls. He says he has been looking for positions to remain in the Midwest and Carroll is more conveniently situated to family in Minnesota and South Dakota. Pitner graduated from Minot State University with a bachelor of science in information systems management in 2000 and holds A+ CE Certification from the Computing Technology Industry Association. He will start Sept. 3 and work with current Director, Carl Wilburn, until his retirement, now slated for December of 2020.
