Jefferson Fire Personnel And Vehicle Nearly Hit While At Scene Of Fatal Accident Early Sunday Morning

While working at the scene of a fatal accident early Sunday morning, authorities arrested a man who nearly struck Jefferson firefighters and their truck. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office reports they were on the scene of that accident on 237th Street near Kirkwood Avenue, west of Jefferson, when at approximately 2:12 a.m., a 2006 Jeep Wrangler nearly missed hitting the personnel and their vehicle. When the driver, 20-year-old Bryce Murano of Woodward, was instructed to pull over, he sped off on Kirkwood Avenue. Murano lost control and entered the east ditch at 230th Street, striking a guide wire to a power pole. The Jefferson Police Department was called in to assist. Murano told authorities he and his passenger, 20-year-old Breane Parkins of West Des Moines, were leaving the Flack River Farm. Murano was arrested and charged with first-offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and first-offense possession of alcohol underage. Parkins was also arrested and charged with possession of alcohol underage.
