The former Mayor of Irwin and Republican candidate for Iowa’s 4th Congressional District, Bret Richards, will be hosting a meet-and-greet on Saturday, July 6 in Carroll. The third-generation Iowan holds a bachelors in civil engineering from the University of Iowa, a masters in leadership and a Ph.D. in human capital management, both from Bellevue University. He has served with the U.S. Army, owned his own business and currently sits as chairman on the board of directors for Manning Regional Healthcare Center. Richards is one of three Republicans currently running against incumbent, Steve King. He has said he does not believe that King can win the next congressional election and says King’s lack of effectiveness was the reason for his decision to run. Richards will be meeting with constituents on July 6 at an outdoor event located at 213 E. 6th Street, right off Highway 30, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Seating and food will be available.
