Local Assisted Living Hosting Event To Support The Fight Against Alzheimer’s Disease

On the longest day of the year, the summer solstice on June 21, the world will be fundraising for the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. The Alzheimer’s Association says “the day with the most light is the day we fight,” and a local assisted living center is hosting an event this weekend and donating all proceeds to the longest day event. Community Relations Manager at Swan Place in Carroll, Sherry Meyer, says they will be Rocking to End Alzheimer’s.

The evening starts off with a meal at 6 p.m.

The food and entertainment are all available for a free-will donation. Meyer says they really wanted to bring out more awareness of Alzheimer’s to the community. The longest day of daylight, Meyer says, is also the longest day for those who care for others with this disease.

Meyer points out that the association will use the donated funds to support initiatives in the Carroll community. The music will start at 7 p.m. and everyone is advised to bring their own lawn chair for the event.
