An Audubon woman was airlifted to an Omaha, Neb. hospital following a collision on Thursday evening. The Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene on Interstate 80, near the Avoca exit at approximately 6:30 p.m. Traffic on the eastbound portion of the highway was stop-and-go due to construction and a 2018 Volvo semi-tractor trailer, driven by 64-year-old Lyle Hass of Iowa City, was stopped in the right lane. For unknown reasons, a 2017 Jeep Cherokee, driven by 48-year-old Jolene Hasbrouk, rear-ended the trailer. The semi entered the south ditch and the Cherokee came to rest in the right lane following the collision. Hasbrouk was taken by air ambulance to Bergan Mercy, Creighton Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Hass was uninjured.
