A Manning woman, whose dog seriously injured a child last year, has been sentenced to probation for failing to comply with an order to remove the animal from city limits. The order against 25-year-old Justine Danielle Jones was handed down last week in District Court for Carroll County. Jones was originally charged with child endangerment causing serious injury, a class C felony, when her dog, a German Shepard-mix named Lucifer, attacked a child in Manning on Oct. 29, 2018. The animal has a history of violence, and Jones was ordered to remove the dog from city limits on Sept. 15 when a similar incident occurred. Jones later pled guilty to a reduced charge of child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor. In lieu of a two-year prison sentence, she was placed on probation for three years and ordered to pay more than $1,500 in fines and surcharges, plus an unspecified amount for restitution.
