Carroll Man Accused Of Felony Theft For Stealing Packages Now Faces Drug And Child Endangerment Charges

A man facing a count of felony theft for allegedly stealing packages from homes in Carroll now faces additional charges after authorities located narcotics in his home. Thirty-nine-year-old John Sanchez of Carroll was arrested on Feb. 9 by the Carroll Police Department when an officer witnessed him and his wife, 28-year-old Nicole Sanchez, take a package from a porch and drive away. Later that day, officers executed a search warrant at their residence in the 1700 block of North West Street and located a substance believed to be methamphetamine in an area easily accessible to children in the home. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) laboratory later confirmed it was methamphetamine. Sanchez was arrested Thursday, April 11 and transported to the Carroll County jail, where he was charged with child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor, and first-offense possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor.
