A local group of mothers with special needs children has taken the initiative and organized a new event next week for a special segment of our area youth. One of the members of the Carroll Area Parent-to-Parent Support Group, Rachel Charlot, says the inspiration for their first Egg-Cessible Eggstravaganza came from many different places—but right at home for her.
Sarah Foley says her son also has an ability impairment with cerebral palsy and she wanted something that would be more inclusive of him, his needs and his wants.
Charlot says it will be held indoors on Thursday, April 18 from 5 to 7 p.m.
This group has thought of how to include every child with special needs. Foley explains it encompasses much more than mobility issues.
Three moms in this group have applied for a gift card from Thrivent to help defray the costs of the Eggstravaganza, but the majority of the expense is being covered by these families. Anyone interested in learning about how they can support the group, how they can volunteer to help out with next Thursday’s event or about how to get their special-needs child involved can do so through the Carroll Area Parent-to-Parent Support Group Facebook page, a link to which is included here.
