Stewart Memorial Community Hospital (SMCH) in Lake City is the recipient of a $67,000 donation, thanks to their auxiliary. At the annual Volunteer Appreciation event at the hospital earlier this month, nearly 70 members were present for the presentation of funds raised in 2018. The dollars are earmarked for the hospital’s Patient-Centered Healing Environment project. Lake City Mayor, Tyler Holm, proclaimed April 13 to April 19 Volunteer Week in Lake City, and CEO, Cindy Carstens, thanked all of the members for sharing their gifts with Stewart Memorial. “You so generously give of your time and talents, and today we are honored to celebrate you, our volunteers,” Carstens said. The Patient-Centered Healing Environment project includes the remodeling of restrooms and exam rooms at the McCrary Rost Clinic locations in Lake View, Lake City, Rockwell City, and Gowrie to meet current Americans with Disability Act (ADA) requirements. There are also aesthetic upgrades included in the renovations.
