On February 27, a Carroll man pleads guilty to theft, robbery and burglary charges after a crime spree on Halloween of 2018. On Monday, April 8, 32-year-old Eric Paul Greteman learned he would be serving several years in prison for those crimes. Iowa District Court Judge, Gary McMinimee, sentenced Greteman to up to 15 years for a second-degree robbery charge that was reduced from first-degree during the plea negotiations. He was also sentenced to up to 15 years on a first-degree theft charge and up to 15 years on a third-degree burglary charge. All three counts included habitual offender designations. McMinimee ordered that the theft and burglary charges run concurrently to each other and consecutively with the robbery charge. He will be given credit for time served. Greteman was also ordered to pay more than $1,000 in restitution to the victims but had court costs and attorney fees suspended. Greteman was accused of stealing a vehicle in Carroll on Oct. 31, 2018, and using it later that day in a robbery at the Coon Rapids Country Store while armed with a knife. Later that same night, Greteman used the truck to ram into the door at the BP Country Store in Glidden to break in and steal energy drinks and cigarettes. Greteman has faced extensive criminal charges as both a juvenile and an adult.
