West Central Iowa Gay Straight Alliance Invites Community To Sunday Lunch And Easter Egg Hunt

The West Central Iowa Gay-Straight Alliance (WCIGSA) is inviting area residents to join them this weekend for lunch, fun and more to raise money for the region’s first pride festival. The Carroll-based association was founded in 2017 and consists of straight, gay and lesbian members working to support anybody who may need it. Social Media Manager, Monica Smith, says the group’s primary purpose is to provide an environment of acceptance for individuals who may feel unwanted.

The West Central Iowa GSA has continued to gain traction and membership over the last two years and is looking to expand their reach through a community gathering and Easter egg hunt on Sunday. Smith says there will be something for everybody to enjoy at the event.

Admission to the Easter egg hunt is $5 for children six years old and up and kids under the age of five can participate for free. They are also offering a meal to attendees. For only $3, you can get a hamburger or hot dog, a bag of chips, a drink and two sides of your choosing. Smith says the event will do more than bring people of all different backgrounds together. Funds generated will also support Carroll’s first pride fest.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Carroll’s Southside Park on Sunday, April 14. There is no need to register prior to Sunday, and everybody is encouraged to attend.
