More Than $10,000 In Damages Reported After Thursday Accident In Jefferson

More than $10,000 in damages was reported Thursday following a two-vehicle accident in Jefferson. At approximately 3:15 p.m., a 1997 Chevrolet K1500, driven by Richard Moranville of Jefferson, was traveling eastbound on West Lincoln Way Street and had stopped for the posted stop sign at the intersection with Elm Street. Moranville proceeded into the intersection and was struck by a northbound 2015 Kia Optima, driven by Kimberly Heltemes of Arizona. While neither driver reported any injuries, both vehicles did experience disabling damage. An estimated $3,000 in damage was done to the Moranville truck and approximately $8,000 to the Kia’s front end. Heltemes was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and failure to provide proof of financial liability.
