At a Manning town-hall meeting in late January, members of the town’s Betterment Association and representatives from Manning Regional Healthcare Center (MRHC) announced that a 53-year old Main Street staple was in danger of closing. The MRHC-owned, 56-bed long-term nursing facility known as the Plaza was down to an average of 30 residents and was suffering from a statewide reduction in Medicaid payments. On Monday, Des Moines-based Accura Healthcare announced they would be adding the Manning Plaza to their list of 18 Iowa Communities. Accura Vice President, Tom LeNeave, took to social media to break the news. He says they are excited to announce the acquisition that will become official on May 1. The Accura team will meet with Plaza employees on Wednesday and will announce dates and times for residents and family meetings soon. “I could not be more grateful to the CEO and leadership team of Manning Regional Healthcare Center for their assistance and leadership in making this happen,” LeNeave wrote. “We are excited to be ‘partners in care, and family for life’ with the hospital and the great city of Manning.” Area communities owned and operated by Accura Healthcare include Carroll, Pomeroy and Cherokee.
