The Lake View City Council is considering offering incentives to downtown businesses to encourage them to complete renovations on their storefronts. Last summer, the Iowa Downtown Resource Center performed an assessment for the community. City Administrator, Scott Peterson, says they provided many insights, both good and bad, about their downtown.
Peterson brought the results from that assessment to city leaders and proposed they begin working to make some of those ideas a reality.
City officials still have not decided what the incentives might be. Lake View does have an existing revolving loan fund, but it hasn’t been used for several years. One option would be to revitalize that fund. Peterson says several other methods have also been proposed.
Surveys were sent out to businesses in the community earlier this year to gauge their interest in participating. Peterson encourages business owners interested in this type of program to contact him through the information included with this story on our website.
