The trial start date for a Carroll woman accused of fraudulently using a stolen debit card to purchase more than $400 worth of items from Walmart is scheduled to begin next month. According to Carroll County District Court records, 41-year-old Letitia Lynn Hightower has entered a not guilty plea to one count of credit card fraud, an aggravated misdemeanor. The charge stems from an investigation by the Carroll Police Department into a report from the victim that Hightower had stolen her debit card from her purse on Jan. 18 and used it to purchase $350 in prepaid Visa cards and $85 of various other items later that day. Her trial has been scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 30 at the Carroll County Courthouse. A pretrial conference was also ordered to be held on Thursday, April 11. If found guilty of the charge, she faces up to two years in prison and a maximum of $6,250 in fines.
